MARVEL's Loki | God of Mischief
Progression, in any field, can be improved further by exchanging ideas, techniques, and experiences with each other. Here is a quick analysis of what I think could benefit anyone who would like to give this sporadic thought a spin.
What happens when you experiment on your usual process and try new techniques? You'll be surprised. For instance, it usually takes me 3-5hours minimum to create the same output.
Usual process: 3-5hrs
1. Sketching (layer 1)
2. Base paint (layer 2)
3. Putting in the details (layer 3)
4. Adjustments (layer 4)
5. Highlights (layer 5)
Experimental process: 2hrs
1. Base paint (layer 1)
2. Putting in the details (layer 1)
3. Adjustments (layer 1)
4. Highlights (layer 1)
The benefit of making digital art is that you can assign different aspects of your painting into their own specific layer. Doing so will give you the flexibility of making adjustments or corrections that are nearly impossible in a traditional painting process. The downside, though, is that it would add up to the amount of time needed to finish up the entire piece.
What I did here is I tried to eliminate the sketching process and just started painting all in one layer, just like doing it in a traditional way - painting on a single canvas. It may not be the best solution for all, but maybe for some, this might come in handy.
